Provide virtual, whole-person care for patients with substance use disorders, with a focus on opioid and alcohol use disorder treatment and medication management. The role includes both shared medical appointments and individual telehealth visits, along with new patient evaluations, treatment planning, referrals, and patient education. Care is delivered in a harm reduction model and includes collaboration with a physician and support for co-existing conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual shared medical appointments and individual telehealth visits.
- Provide clinical assessments, treatment plans, and medication management.
- Conduct new patient evaluations for substance use disorder care.
- Prescribe and monitor medications for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder.
- Coordinate referrals and patient education based on assessed needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and protect patient confidentiality under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part II.
- Collaborate with a physician and respond to member questions and care needs.
- Use strong verbal and written communication in a remote care setting.
Required
- Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Texas.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- At least 1 year of experience in addiction medicine.
- Experience prescribing medications for substance use disorder.
- Active DEA license.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferred
- Additional active licensure in California or New Mexico.
- Experience with harm reduction.
- Willingness to obtain licensure in additional states.
- Familiarity with Google Drive, spreadsheets, video conferencing, documentation, and secure email.
