This role teaches graduate-level psychiatric mental health nursing coursework in a virtual environment, with a focus on psychotherapy techniques for individuals, families, and groups. The faculty member uses course materials to deliver instruction, assess student work, and support academic progress while maintaining an engaged online classroom presence. Additional responsibilities may include coaching, tutoring, overseeing practicum or mentorship experiences, and contributing to faculty meetings and university events.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online instruction for undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses aligned with learning objectives and course outlines.
- Provide psychotherapy-related teaching and clinical insight to connect course concepts with real-world practice.
- Deliver learning activities, assignments, and student assessments using current course materials.
- Maintain an active virtual classroom presence and respond promptly to student questions and academic concerns.
- Coordinate coaching, tutoring, and resource referrals to support student learning and success.
- Oversee student clinical, practicum, or mentorship experiences when required by the course or program.
- Participate in faculty meetings, content area meetings, and other university events as required.
- Use university technology and adapt to updates to support online teaching and faculty responsibilities.
Required
- Doctor of Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, PhD in Nursing, Medical Physician/Psychiatrist, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/Psychiatrist; or a doctorate in another area plus a master’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing practice experience, including at least 2 years as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist using psychotherapy techniques.
- Active, unencumbered RN license and Arizona or multistate Arizona APRN licensure.
- National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Current experience within the last 5 years, with at least 2 years of current relevant experience.
Preferred
- Experience with adult education teaching and learning theory.
- Prior scholarship or academic engagement in a nursing or clinical education setting.
- Strong Microsoft Office and general technology proficiency.
