Provide online instruction and project-chair support for doctoral nursing students, with a focus on guiding evidence-based practice or quality improvement work and supporting academic progress. The role also includes coaching, tutoring, and oversight of student practicum or mentorship experiences when required by the program. Faculty collaborate through university meetings, maintain current knowledge in nursing practice and teaching, and use the school’s online course materials and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in an online environment.
- Provide guidance to DNP students developing evidence-based practice or quality improvement projects.
- Deliver course content, learning activities, and student assessments using current university materials.
- Maintain an engaged classroom presence and respond promptly to student questions and concerns.
- Coach, tutor, and connect students with additional academic resources as needed.
- Oversee student clinical, practicum, or mentorship experiences when required.
- Attend faculty meetings and university events as assigned.
- Maintain current professional, technical, and scholarship activity in the nursing content area.
Required
- Doctorate in Nursing (DNP, DNS, or PhD) with completion of a dissertation or culminating project.
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of residence or practice, or a multistate RN license.
- Minimum of 3 graduate semester credits in Research Methodology, Evidence-Based Practice, or Quality Improvement, or equivalent.
- Professional experience in a leadership or management role.
- At least 3 years of experience in doctoral-level nursing practice.
- 1-3 years of direct work with DNP students, such as preceptor or mentor experience.
Preferred
- Experience in adult education teaching and learning theory.
- Experience in doctoral-level practice areas such as administration, clinical, informatics, or consulting.
- Recent doctoral-level project leadership or recent completion of a doctoral-level project within the last 10 years.
- Demonstrated scholarship activity that meets nursing faculty requirements.
