Provide online nursing instruction and course facilitation for post-licensure RN-BSN or MSN students using established curriculum and an LMS. The role centers on evaluating student progress, supporting office hours and communication, and teaching through recorded synchronous sessions when required. Faculty also contribute to syllabus review, program assessment, accreditation-related reporting, and ongoing instructional improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online instruction and course facilitation for RN-BSN or MSN classes.
- Use the LMS to deliver course content and maintain course currency.
- Evaluate student progress, grades, attendance, and timely feedback.
- Provide weekly recorded synchronous sessions for courses with unit or final exams.
- Maintain at least two office hours each week for student communication.
- Coordinate syllabus review, instructional guideline updates, and program assessment activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for university and accreditation requirements and reporting.
- Participate in professional development and maintain continuing education hours for licensure renewal.
Required
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in California.
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure or eligibility in all states where MSN programs are established.
- Master’s degree in Nursing required.
- Terminal degree in Nursing (DNP, EdD, or PhD) required.
- At least 3 years of direct patient care experience as an RN.
- At least 1 year of prior pre-licensure nursing online teaching experience using an LMS.
Preferred
- Experience demonstrating current knowledge of nursing practice and educational methodology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to mentor students in an online learning environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
