This part-time supervising psychiatrist role focuses on supporting and reviewing care delivered by licensed psychiatric nurse practitioners in an integrated behavioral health setting. The physician provides second-opinion consults, manages higher-complexity psychiatric cases, and may deliver follow-up care, medication management, and psychotherapy when appropriate. The role also includes clinical supervision, documentation review, and collaboration on workflows, protocols, and measurement-based care in a largely virtual, interdisciplinary model.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a panel of psychiatric nurse practitioners, including onboarding support and ongoing clinical guidance.
- Review documentation, treatment plans, and billing practices for quality, compliance, and clinical appropriateness.
- Provide second-opinion consultations and treatment input for higher-complexity psychiatric cases.
- Manage medications, conduct follow-up assessments, and offer psychotherapy when clinically indicated.
- Support APPs in responding to clinical crises in coordination with compliance processes and guidelines.
- Collaborate with therapists, care coordinators, and clinical leadership in an interdisciplinary care model.
- Help develop and refine treatment guidelines, tools, workflows, and clinical decision-support processes.
- Participate in case reviews, clinical discussions, and organizational planning.
Required
- MD or DO with board certification in psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted federal DEA registration.
- Eligibility for or participation in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, or an active license in one or more priority states listed in the posting.
- Experience supervising and mentoring advanced practice providers such as NPs or PAs.
- Familiarity with state collaborative practice agreements and supervision regulations.
- Ability to obtain separate DEA registrations in states of practice as required.
Preferred
- Additional state licensure or willingness to obtain additional licenses.
- Familiarity with telemedicine platforms and virtual care delivery.
