This part-time supervising psychiatrist role focuses on overseeing and mentoring licensed psychiatric nurse practitioners in an integrated behavioral health model. The physician reviews complex cases, supports clinical escalations, and provides second-opinion consultations while also delivering limited direct psychiatric care, including follow-up visits, medication management, and psychotherapy when appropriate. The role also helps shape clinical workflows, treatment protocols, and measurement-based care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor 10-12 psychiatric nurse practitioners, supporting clinical protocols and best practices.
- Review documentation and treatment plans for quality, compliance, and appropriate billing practices.
- Support APPs in managing clinical crises and other complex escalations.
- Provide second-opinion consultations and treatment for higher-acuity or complex cases.
- Prescribe medications and manage follow-up psychiatric care in alignment with measurement-based care.
- Offer psychotherapy when clinically appropriate.
- Collaborate with therapists, care coordinators, clinical leadership, and cross-functional teams on workflows and care models.
- Help define and refine treatment guidelines, protocols, and clinical decision-support processes.
Required
- MD or DO with board certification in psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted federal DEA registration.
- Eligibility for the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact or an active license in one or more priority states.
- Experience supervising and mentoring advanced practice providers such as NPs or PAs.
- Familiarity with state-specific collaborative practice agreements and supervision regulations.
Preferred
- Additional state licensure or willingness to obtain additional licenses.
- Familiarity with telemedicine platforms and virtual care delivery.
