Oversee a frontline oncology nursing team that supports people with cancer through clinical guidance, symptom management, care coordination, and escalation support across the care journey. This role combines team leadership with hands-on clinical oversight, including coaching nurses, managing urgent member and caregiver issues, and helping improve workflows, documentation, and service quality. The setting is technology-enabled and value-based, with close collaboration across clinical leadership, providers, and health plan partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coach a team of oncology nurses, including ongoing training, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Serve as an escalation point for urgent member, caregiver, and process-related clinical issues.
- Lead team huddles and monitor queues, assignments, priorities, and productivity.
- Support nurses with care coordination, symptom management, nutritional support, discharge coordination, and readmission prevention.
- Provide clinical expertise in medical, behavioral, and crisis management situations.
- Participate in root-cause analyses and recommend improvements to knowledge, data, documentation, and procedures.
- Contribute to staffing, schedules, resource planning, policies, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support hiring and interview processes for oncology nurse team members.
Required
- Registered Nurse license with multi-state compact licensure and willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
- Nursing degree required; ADN or BSN preferred.
- At least 8 years of nursing experience.
- At least 2 years of people management experience in oncology and/or case management.
- Oncology certification or case management certification, such as OCN, AOCN, AOCNS, or CCM.
Preferred
- Experience as an oncology nurse navigator or case manager.
- Experience working in provider and health plan operations.
- Comfort using video chat, Google Suite, Slack, and electronic health records.
- Experience in scaling, fast-paced, or startup environments.
