Med. School, BS/MD Admissions Coach (Part-Time)

Description

This clinician-facing coaching role supports high school students applying to medical school, pre-med, and BS/MD pathways through virtual, one-on-one advising sessions. The work centers on application strategy, school list development, essay support, interview preparation, and deadline management. Coaches also collaborate with admissions experts and internal team members to keep guidance current and individualized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate regularly with students and families to clarify goals, needs, and expectations throughout the admissions process.
  • Provide end-to-end advising through scheduled 60-minute Zoom sessions and between-session task assignments.
  • Track application deadlines, educational milestones, and document submission requirements.
  • Support a cohort of medical school, pre-med, and BS/MD applicants with personalized guidance.
  • Conduct research to answer questions and provide current admissions resources and recommendations.
  • Guide students in building a balanced school list aligned with academic, professional, financial, and personal goals.
  • Mentor students through personal statements, secondary essays, résumés, and other application materials.
  • Provide interview preparation and participate in progress reviews with admissions experts and coach mentors.
Required
  • Experience working with U.S. college or medical school admissions, advising, teaching, or another educational support role.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. medical school admissions process or willingness to quickly develop that expertise.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Availability during after-school hours and weekends, with some flexibility for international time zones during peak periods.
  • Ability to commit to working with students for one year or through the end of the admissions cycle.
Preferred
  • Graduation from or work experience at a top 50 university or top 20 liberal arts college.
  • Prior experience as a college admissions officer.
  • Familiarity with AMCAS, AACOMAS, MCAT preparation, secondary applications, and MMI-style interviews.
  • Background in pre-med advising, pipeline programs, research, AmeriCorps, or similar academic support roles.
