This role provides telehealth psychiatric care for a neurology patient population with common co-morbid concerns such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and other behavioral health needs. The clinician conducts psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, treatment planning, and medication management while helping shape an early-stage integrated behavioral health service. Work is collaborative and multidisciplinary, with close coordination across neurology clinicians and care coaches in a tech-enabled virtual practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telehealth psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for neurology patients.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications while monitoring efficacy and side effects in the context of neurological co-morbidities.
- Collaborate with neurologists, nurse practitioners, and care coaches to support integrated patient care.
- Document clinical encounters accurately and promptly in the EMR.
- Participate in care team case reviews, clinical huddles, and quality improvement work.
- Help shape behavioral health protocols, workflows, and the patient experience as the first PMHNP hire.
- Maintain multi-state licensure and provide care within licensed states.
- Stay current on evidence-based psychiatry, telepsychiatry, and the neurology-behavioral health intersection.
Required
- Current, unrestricted PMHNP licensure in at least New York state.
- Board certification as a PMHNP-BC, or ARNP with psychiatric specialty.
- Active DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience as a PMHNP.
- Experience treating psychiatric co-morbidities alongside chronic conditions.
- Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and telehealth platforms.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 8 patient care hours per week.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a HIPAA-compliant workspace.
Preferred
- Multi-state licensure.
- Prior telehealth or telepsychiatry experience.
- Experience in neurology, primary care, or integrated care settings.
- Experience with epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, MS, dementia, or other neurologic diagnoses.
- Experience with collaborative practice agreements or supervising physician models.
- Interest in protocol development, quality improvement, or clinician training.
- Spanish language proficiency or other multilingual skills.
