Conduct telehealth-based neurological evaluations for patients involved in personal injury claims, including motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, and slip-and-fall cases. The role centers on independent medical examinations, trauma-related neurologic assessment, and detailed medical-legal reporting that addresses diagnosis, causation, prognosis, and permanency. This is a flexible 1099 contract opportunity with a multidisciplinary team and a strong emphasis on objective, litigation-ready documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telehealth neurological evaluations for personal injury patients with trauma-related complaints.
- Perform independent medical examinations and review medical records, imaging, and prior treatment history.
- Author clear, well-substantiated medical-legal reports covering diagnosis, causation, prognosis, permanency, and treatment recommendations.
- Provide expert opinions and deposition or testimony support when needed.
- Diagnose and evaluate trauma-related neurologic conditions such as TBI, post-concussive syndrome, whiplash-associated disorders, and cervical or spinal injury.
- Collaborate with attorneys, adjusters, and clinical care coordination teams to complete timely evaluations.
- Maintain meticulous, litigation-ready documentation in accordance with legal and clinical standards.
- Stay current on standards of care and evidentiary requirements relevant to personal injury neurology.
Required
- MD or DO degree with board certification in Neurology.
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
- Experience evaluating and treating trauma-related neurologic conditions.
- Strong written communication skills for clear, objective, legally sound reports.
- Comfort practicing via telehealth and using EMR/documentation platforms.
- Willingness to provide deposition testimony or courtroom appearances as needed.
Preferred
- Prior experience with independent medical examinations, medical-legal evaluations, or expert witness work.
- Fellowship training or subspecialty certification in brain injury medicine, pain medicine, or neurorehabilitation.
- Experience serving as a retained expert witness or IME provider for insurers, law firms, or third-party administrators.
- Familiarity with personal injury protection, workers' compensation, or no-fault insurance frameworks.
- Multi-state licensure.
