Board-certified ophthalmologists conduct independent utilization reviews, evaluating medical necessity and clinical appropriateness for ophthalmology-related cases. This is a fully remote, flexible contractor role with limited weekly time commitment and daytime availability for peer-to-peer conversations. Work is focused on review activities rather than direct patient care, with adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent utilization reviews for ophthalmology cases.
- Evaluate clinical documentation for medical necessity and appropriateness of care.
- Participate in peer-to-peer discussions during daytime hours as needed.
- Work within technology-driven utilization management and clinical review workflows.
- Adhere to HIPAA, privacy, and security policies for sensitive health information.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Current, unencumbered Indiana medical license.
- Board certification in Ophthalmology.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience, including residency.
