Provide psychiatric consultations for older adults in nursing home settings, with a focus on assessment, medication recommendations, and follow-up care. The role emphasizes integrating pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, coordinating with facility staff and families, and supporting residents’ mental health over time. This is a full-time 1099 contract role with flexible scheduling, administrative support, and clinical mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric consultations and rounds in assigned nursing homes.
- Assess patients and recommend psychiatric medications and treatment plans.
- Coordinate closely with nursing home staff, residents, and families.
- Follow up with patients to assess response to recommended interventions.
- Provide education on best practices for care and treatment.
- Integrate pharmacological and behavioral interventions, emphasizing non-pharmacological approaches when appropriate.
- Document care clearly and communicate effectively with the care team.
Required
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Active Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner license.
- ANCC board certification.
- Ability to travel to nursing homes in New York.
- Strong patient assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
