Provide clinical leadership for a multi-vertical telehealth practice, overseeing quality, safety, and compliance across virtual care for adult primary care and related service lines. This role includes supervising and mentoring physicians, collaborating with nurse practitioners, and helping shape protocols, risk management, and launch readiness for new products and care offerings. It is a highly cross-functional position with hands-on involvement in quality improvement, regulatory oversight, and physician administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate MD/DO providers across clinical verticals.
- Establish and monitor physician performance metrics, including documentation quality, protocol adherence, patient outcomes, and escalation handling.
- Serve as collaborating or supervising physician for NPs where required by state law, including maintaining compliant practice agreements.
- Conduct or oversee chart audits, peer review, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
- Develop, review, and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols and treatment guidelines.
- Participate in clinical review of new products, service lines, and platform features before launch.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Product, and Finance on licensing, credentialing, staffing, and physician compensation matters.
- Manage physician payroll processes, timecards, bonuses, and compensation-related discrepancies.
Required
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
- At least 8 years of clinical practice experience, including telehealth experience.
- Experience supervising or collaborating with nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants, ideally across multiple states.
- Experience developing clinical protocols or guidelines.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a Medical Director or similar clinical leadership role.
- Experience in a telehealth or multi-site healthcare organization.
- Experience across multiple clinical verticals such as primary care, weight management, mental health, urgent care, women's health, or men's health.
- Familiarity with EHR and telehealth platforms, as well as clinical quality metrics and reporting.
- Experience navigating state-by-state nurse practitioner scope-of-practice variation.
- Multi-state licensure or willingness to obtain additional state licenses.
