Provide virtual medication abortion care for patients through an online platform, reviewing medical intake information, determining eligibility, and prescribing treatment when appropriate. Visits may occur by video, phone, or asynchronous messaging, with follow-up and non-urgent support coordinated through a remote clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medication abortion visits via video, phone, and asynchronous communication.
- Review patient medical intake responses and assess eligibility for online treatment.
- Communicate with patients through a HIPAA-compliant messaging app and live appointments.
- Prescribe medications to a mail-order pharmacy or coordinate local pharmacy pickup.
- Respond to medical inquiries that require further evaluation or escalation.
- Direct nursing staff on referrals and additional prescriptions as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing and patient advocate teams on education, support, and follow-up review.
Required
- Active Nurse Practitioner licensure and authority to practice as a prescriber.
- Experience or training relevant to reproductive or sexual health care.
- Ability to provide care from an approved remote work state.
- For the part-time opening, ability to reliably commute to Oakland, CA.
- Medi-Cal credentialing for the part-time role.
Preferred
- Prior telemedicine experience.
- Spanish language fluency, which is associated with higher hourly pay.
- Availability for weekend hours and in-office hours for the part-time role.
- Comfort working in a medication abortion and reproductive health model of care.
