The Psychiatric Medical Director provides virtual psychiatric oversight for patients in a PHP and IOP setting, focusing on evaluation of mental health disorders, treatment planning, and clinical supervision. The role centers on supporting a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, with regular rounds, supervision, and guidance for advanced practice providers and other clinicians. It also involves documentation, policy compliance, and coordination with outside professionals as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, professional development, and clinical guidance to staff and advanced practice providers.
- Conduct psychiatric review of clients with mental health disorders and support treatment plan development.
- Participate in weekly team rounds to discuss client care with the treatment team.
- Document clinical findings, care decisions, and treatment records in the electronic health record.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, local, CARF, HIPAA, and privacy requirements.
- Coordinate communication and referrals with outside professionals when needed.
- Support medication security, confidentiality, and required regulatory documentation.
- Participate in continuing education and training related to mental health care and supervision.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board eligible or board certified in Adult Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Active North Carolina medical license.
- Schedule II-V prescriptive authority in the state of residence.
- DEA registration and active X-waiver.
- Active NPI.
- Experience treating mental health disorders.
- Willingness to provide formal clinical supervision if eligible based on licensure and state regulations.
