Provide telepsychiatry care for veterans and military families, with a focus on comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, brief supportive therapy, and psychoeducation for complex conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and high-risk presentations. In addition to direct patient care, the role includes scheduled clinical supervision for psychiatric nurse practitioners, case review, treatment planning guidance, and urgent consultation support. The practice is remote and mission-focused, with an emphasis on risk management, quality improvement, and collaborative work in a secure, tech-enabled environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for veterans.
- Provide individualized medication management and monitor treatment response.
- Deliver brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation alongside pharmacotherapy.
- Assess and manage suicidality, self-harm ideation, PTSD, and other high-acuity psychiatric conditions.
- Review cases and provide structured clinical supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners.
- Coordinate guidance on diagnosis, treatment planning, pharmacologic interventions, and risk management.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in a secure EHR.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership on program development and quality improvement.
Required
- MD or DO from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted medical license and eligibility for multi-state licensure as needed.
- Active DEA registration.
- At least 5 years of post-residency psychiatry experience.
- At least 2 years of experience treating veteran, active-duty, or military-connected populations.
- Experience providing clinical supervision to NPs or PAs.
- Experience with trauma-informed care, PTSD pharmacotherapy, and high-acuity suicide risk assessment.
- Own professional liability insurance with minimum 1M/1M/3M coverage.
Preferred
- Prior military service or experience working within the VA/DoD system.
- Experience in Addiction Psychiatry.
- Experience with telepsychiatry platforms and hybrid care models.
- Training in evidence-based psychotherapies such as CBT or CPT.
