This physician will provide longitudinal telehealth care for patients with obesity and chronic weight management needs, using evidence-based medical treatment and non-controlled obesity medications. Care is team-based, with close collaboration with registered dietitians and coordination with advanced practice professionals as the role grows. The position is fully remote, includes flexible scheduling, and uses a technology-enabled model with video visits, secure messaging, photo journaling, and digital data sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct telehealth care for patients with obesity and chronic weight management needs.
- Develop treatment plans and provide medical management support for complex or escalated cases.
- Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications for patients under direct care.
- Collaborate with registered dietitians as part of longitudinal team-based care.
- Ensure documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and relevant departmental meetings.
- Support professional development of advanced practice professionals through feedback and continuing education.
- Participate in rotating after-hours call coverage with reduced clinical time during on-call weeks.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification.
- American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) diplomate status.
- Active licensure to practice and prescribe in Mississippi, Missouri, or Alabama.
- Multi-state practice capability, including an active IMLC Letter of Qualification or the ability to secure one quickly upon hire.
- Ability to work in a 100% remote, US-based telemedicine setting.
Preferred
- Prior telemedicine experience.
- Prior collaboration experience with advanced practice professionals and registered dietitians.
- Current or previous credentialing with insurance payers.
- Spanish medical fluency.
- Additional state licensure.
