Description

Provide telemedicine care for patients with obesity and complex endocrine disease, with a strong focus on comprehensive diabetes management, insulin titration, and use of CGMs and insulin pumps. The role also includes support for patients with CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular comorbidities, along with collaboration with APPs and registered dietitians in a multidisciplinary care model. The physician has a patient panel, participates in supervision and teaching, and helps standardize protocols, documentation, and quality improvement across the program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care through virtual visits for obesity medicine and comprehensive diabetes management.
  • Manage insulin titration, complex insulin regimens, and patients using continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps.
  • Review charts and conduct initial and return visits for APP patients to support continuity and quality of care.
  • Support management of patients with complex comorbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Prescribe non-controlled medications for obesity and diabetes in direct care and in coordination with APPs.
  • Collaborate with endocrine APPs and registered dietitians through regular case review and mentoring.
  • Follow clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways for complex endocrine and diabetic populations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement efforts, and professional development activities.
Required
  • Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state.
  • At least 5 years of attending physician experience in endocrinology.
  • Demonstrated competency managing CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular comorbidities.
  • Expertise in advanced diabetes management, including CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens.
Preferred
  • American Board of Obesity Medicine certification.
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience in obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy.
  • LOQ with the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, if living in an IMLC-eligible state.
  • Experience collaborating with APPs, medical residents, or trainees.
  • Medical fluency in Spanish.
