Provide telemedicine-based endocrinology care for adults with obesity and diabetes, with a strong focus on medication management, insulin titration, and use of CGMs and insulin pumps. The role also supports patients with complex comorbidities such as CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular disease, including review of escalated cases and ongoing management planning. The physician collaborates closely with APPs, registered dietitians, and clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary, tech-enabled care model.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and follow-up virtual visits for patients receiving obesity and diabetes care.
- Provide evidence-based treatment for obesity medicine and comprehensive diabetes management, including insulin adjustment.
- Review patient charts and see every third visit for APP-managed patients to support continuity and quality of care.
- Coordinate care for patients with complex comorbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular disease.
- Prescribe non-controlled medications for obesity and diabetes within direct and collaborative care workflows.
- Participate in weekly case review, mentoring, and asynchronous communication with endocrine-specialized APPs.
- Use CGMs, insulin pumps, documentation standards, and treatment pathways to support safe care delivery.
- Contribute to quality improvement, team-based care initiatives, departmental meetings, and colleague education.
Required
- Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state.
- Ability to practice across multiple states, with an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Letter of Qualification or eligibility to obtain one quickly.
- Experience managing complex diabetes care and endocrinology patients.
- Comfort managing patients with CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular comorbidities.
Preferred
- American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification.
- At least 3 years of obesity medicine experience and pharmacotherapy experience.
- Experience working with APPs, medical residents, or trainees.
- Medical fluency in Spanish.
- Licensure in Virginia, New York, or Massachusetts.
