Provide virtual endocrinology and obesity medicine care for patients with complex chronic disease, including diabetes management, insulin titration, and treatment for obesity. The role also involves supervising and collaborating with advanced practice providers and dietitians, with a focus on patients who have CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular comorbidities. This is a modified full-time telemedicine position with protected time for teaching, supervision, administrative work, and participation in after-hours call coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care through telemedicine, including initial and follow-up visits.
- Manage obesity and diabetes treatment, including insulin titration and non-controlled prescribing.
- Review and manage patients using CGMs and insulin pump therapy.
- Collaborate with APPs and Registered Dietitians on longitudinal diabetes care.
- Supervise APP patient visits and review charts for quality and continuity of care.
- Support management of complex endocrinology cases and escalated clinical concerns.
- Follow clinical protocols, documentation standards, and treatment pathways.
- Participate in mentorship, teaching, departmental meetings, and quality improvement efforts.
Required
- Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state.
- Ability to practice across multiple states or obtain an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Letter of Qualification.
- Competency in managing complex comorbidities, including CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular disease.
- Experience with advanced diabetes management, including CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens.
Preferred
- American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification.
- At least 3 years of obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy experience.
- Medical license in New York, Virginia, or Massachusetts.
- Experience collaborating with APPs, residents, or other trainees.
- Spanish medical fluency.
