Provide telemedicine care for patients with obesity and complex diabetes, with a focus on evidence-based endocrine management, insulin titration, and use of CGMs and insulin pumps. The role also involves supervising and collaborating with advanced practice providers and registered dietitians, reviewing charts, and supporting care for patients with CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular comorbidities. Protected time is included for teaching, administrative work, and team-based quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct virtual patient care for obesity medicine and comprehensive diabetes management.
- Conduct initial and return visits, including chart review for APP patients every third visit.
- Manage complex insulin regimens, including insulin titration, CGMs, and insulin pump therapy.
- Provide medical management support for complex endocrinology cases and escalated clinical concerns.
- Prescribe non-controlled medications for obesity and diabetes.
- Collaborate with Endocrine APPs and registered dietitians in shared patient care.
- Participate in weekly case review meetings, asynchronous communication, and mentorship with assigned APPs.
- Support documentation, care protocols, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
Required
- Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state.
- Ability to practice across multiple states, including a valid or rapidly obtainable Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Letter of Qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience as an attending physician in endocrinology.
- Experience managing complex comorbidities such as CKD, ESRD, and cardiovascular disease.
- Experience with advanced diabetes management, including CGMs, insulin pumps, and complex insulin regimens.
Preferred
- Certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
- At least 3 years of obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy experience.
- Prior work with APPs, residents, or trainees in a clinical academic setting.
- Medical fluency in Spanish.
- Prior licensure or prescriptive authority in Virginia, New York, or Massachusetts.
