Provide virtual obesity medicine care for adults with chronic weight management needs, using evidence-based treatment plans, medication management, and ongoing follow-up through telemedicine. The role also involves reviewing charts, addressing complex or escalated cases, and supporting continuity of care across a multidisciplinary team. Clinicians collaborate with advanced practice providers and registered dietitians, and use a tech-enabled workflow that includes video visits, messaging, photo journaling, and digital data sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care focused on obesity treatment and chronic weight management.
- Conduct virtual visits and review charts to support quality and continuity of care.
- Provide treatment planning and medical management for complex cases or escalated concerns.
- Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications.
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers and registered dietitians as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Support APP collaboration and supervision, as needed.
- Ensure documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently.
- Participate in team-based care initiatives, departmental meetings, and quality improvement efforts.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Current board certification in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in a US state, with eligibility to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
- At least 2 years of attending physician experience post-residency in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Obesity Medicine, or completion of an accredited Obesity Medicine fellowship.
- Current Medicare opt-in status.
- Experience in obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy, including oral and injectable medications.
Preferred
- Experience providing synchronous patient care in a telehealth setting.
- IMLC eligibility.
- Spanish medical fluency.
- Experience working with APPs, medical residents, or trainees in a clinical academic setting.
- Interest in mentoring and teaching within a team-based obesity medicine practice.
