Provide virtual psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders, including comprehensive assessments, medication management, and monitoring of psychiatric and medical stability. The role also includes coordination with a multidisciplinary care team and support for families throughout treatment. This is a fully remote position in a high-acuity telehealth setting with a strong emphasis on evidence-based care, documentation, and cross-team communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients with eating disorders and co-occurring conditions.
- Monitor vital signs, laboratory data, and other clinical indicators to support medical stability in an outpatient virtual setting.
- Coordinate care with therapists, dietitians, physicians, nurses, medical assistants, peer mentors, and family mentors.
- Use EMR messaging and internal communication tools to respond to patient and family questions and relay updates to the care team.
- Document session notes, medical assessments, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record within required timeframes.
- Communicate with outside primary care providers, specialists, and higher levels of care as needed.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, clinical case reviews, department meetings, and continuing education.
Required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Experience or strong competence in eating disorder medical management.
- Ability to evaluate refeeding risk, monitor psychiatric and medical stability, and manage high-risk psychotropic medications.
- Comfort working in a virtual, high-acuity care environment.
Preferred
- Located in the Eastern time zone.
- Licensed through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact or eligible to obtain IMLC licensure.
- Residency in an IMLC member state for the IMLC pathway.
- Experience delivering high-acuity, high-volume virtual care.
- Strong communication skills for patient engagement and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with evidence-based eating disorder treatment models.
