Provide psychiatric oversight for a virtual intensive outpatient program serving teens and adults with trauma and depression, including chart review, consultation on medication management, and level-of-care decisions. This role also supports case review, clinical protocol development, and the launch of a new behavioral health program operating in a Joint Commission-accredited, outpatient setting. The physician works closely with the clinical director and PMHNP in a flexible, part-time contracting arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric oversight for the IOP clinical team and collaborating PMHNP
- Conduct chart review and sign documentation in line with Joint Commission and Medi-Cal standards
- Consult on medication management, diagnostic clarity, and level-of-care decisions
- Participate in periodic case review with the clinical director and treatment team
- Help shape clinical protocols as the program scales
- Support credentialing and payer enrollment processes as needed
Required
- Active, unrestricted California MD or DO license
- Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry
- Ability to serve as Collaborating Physician for a PMHNP under California supervision requirements
- Familiarity with intensive outpatient or outpatient behavioral health level-of-care standards
- Reliable availability for scheduled chart review and consultation
Preferred
- Experience with adolescent psychiatric care
- Experience with trauma-focused psychiatric care
- Prior experience as a Medical Director or Collaborating Physician in behavioral health
- Comfort working in a startup or founder-led practice environment
