The clinician reviews medical records and provides case-by-case opinions for legal and insurance-related counter-affidavit work, including questions about medical necessity, treatment, CPT coding, and usual and customary charges. The role also supports deposition and trial testimony when needed. Work is independent contractor-based and can be scheduled around availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and answer clinical, billing, and fee-related questions in counter-affidavit reports.
- Assess medical necessity of treatment and the appropriateness of charges using clinical expertise and Texas fee standards.
- Analyze CPT code application alongside usual and customary rates and state fee schedules.
- Provide copies of any criteria used in the review with the report.
- Return completed cases by the specified due date and time.
- Respond to clarification requests, prepare addenda when needed, and address client questions.
- Support deposition and trial testimony as required.
Required
- Clinical expertise relevant to review of medical records and fee/charge analysis.
- Ability to work on a contract, per-case basis as schedule permits.
- Experience reviewing counter-affidavit, testimony, or deposition cases.
- Ability to analyze CPT coding, usual and customary rates, and Texas state fee schedules.
Preferred
- Prior counter-affidavit, testimony, or deposition work experience.
