Review medical records and provide advisory opinions for Texas counter-affidavit, medical necessity, and charge-related questions in orthopedic spine cases. The work also includes support for deposition and trial expert needs, with cases reviewed on a contract, case-by-case basis to fit your schedule. Support services include prepped case files, transcription, client communication, scheduling, and report delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and all case materials for assigned legal medical review requests.
- Address clinical questions, medical necessity of treatment, and usual and customary charges for services.
- Complete counter-affidavit reports responding to each question and clinical concern.
- Analyze CPT coding, state fee schedules, and Texas charge norms as they relate to the case.
- Provide copies of any criteria used in the review with the report.
- Return cases by the specified due date and time.
- Respond to client questions, clarification requests, and addenda when needed.
- Support deposition and trial expert work when required.
Required
- Active Texas medical license.
- Active clinical practice.
- Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Spine surgery expertise.
- Experience with clinical review and analysis of medical records.
Preferred
- Prior counter-affidavit, testimony, or deposition experience.
- Experience analyzing CPT codes, usual and customary rates, and state fee schedules.
