Conduct independent medical exams and disability/peer reviews for patients and claims within physical medicine & rehabilitation, occupational medicine, and neurology. Work is case-based and focused on medical necessity, appropriateness, and evidence-based review rather than ongoing treatment. The role allows a customized schedule within a Monday-through-Friday framework, with cases assigned in your jurisdiction and report turnaround expected to meet client deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and address each client question using state-mandated and evidence-based criteria.
- Provide clear, well-supported written rationales for review determinations.
- Conduct independent medical exams in a professional, safe setting.
- Return completed cases by the required due date and time.
- Use current national, state, and specialty guidelines and peer-reviewed literature to support objective decision-making.
- Coordinate with quality assurance, regulatory, audit, depositions, court appearances, or complaints as needed.
- Provide copies of criteria used in the review with the final report when required.
- Maintain credentialing, state licensure, and any special certifications needed for the work.
Required
- Board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Occupational Medicine, or Neurology.
- Current state licensure and any other credentials required to perform reviews in the jurisdiction.
- Ability to work as a 1099 independent contractor.
- Ability to conduct IMEs and peer reviews and complete reports on time.
