Review orthopedic medical records and provide objective, evidence-based opinions on musculoskeletal injuries, degenerative joint disease, fracture care, sports injuries, surgical and non-surgical management, impairment, disability, and return-to-work issues. Work is fully remote and focused on chart review rather than direct patient care, with peer-to-peer communication and responses to client-specific clinical questions as needed. This is a 1099 independent contractor role with flexible scheduling and case selection based on availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records for orthopedic cases and formulate clear clinical summaries.
- Provide objective opinions on causation, impairment, disability, and work restrictions.
- Respond to client-specific questions related to orthopedic diagnoses, treatment plans, and surgical interventions.
- Participate in peer-to-peer communications when clarification is needed.
- Use secure online case workflows to access prepared records and clinical guidelines.
- Coordinate case review activities within a fully remote, independent contractor model.
Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Current, unrestricted Louisiana medical license.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Ability to attend required orientation and training sessions.
- Maintenance of applicable licensure, certification, and credentialing requirements.
Preferred
- Experience with physician peer review or independent medical review.
- Familiarity with impairment, disability, and return-to-work evaluations.
- Background in reviewing musculoskeletal trauma, fracture care, or sports medicine cases.
