Conduct independent, evidence-based medical record reviews for patients with musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, spine disorders, rehabilitation needs, and functional impairment concerns. Prepare written opinions on medical necessity, causation, treatment appropriateness, impairment, functional capacity, and return-to-work considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and supporting documentation for completeness and clinical relevance.
- Conduct evidence-based assessments using current clinical guidelines and standards of care.
- Prepare clear, concise written reports and clinical summaries.
- Answer client-specific questions about diagnoses, treatment plans, rehabilitation services, and functional outcomes.
- Participate in peer-to-peer discussions when needed.
- Assess medical necessity, appropriateness of care, causation, impairment, and rehabilitation needs.
- Apply expertise in non-operative musculoskeletal care and related rehabilitation planning.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Current, unrestricted Michigan medical license.
- Active clinical practice or recent experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- At least 5 years of post-residency clinical experience.
- Ability to complete required orientation and training.
Preferred
- Experience evaluating musculoskeletal, rehabilitation, pain management, and functional impairment cases.
- Background in electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG/NCS), if applicable.
