This fully remote role focuses on independent medical record review for adults with musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, spine disorders, rehabilitation needs, and functional impairment. The physician provides evidence-based opinions on medical necessity, causation, treatment planning, return-to-work considerations, and other client-specific questions. Work is performed as an independent contractor with flexible scheduling and customizable case volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and supporting documentation for assigned cases.
- Provide objective, evidence-based clinical assessments and independent medical opinions.
- Prepare clear written reports and concise clinical summaries.
- Evaluate medical necessity, appropriateness of care, causation, impairment, and functional capacity.
- Answer client-specific questions about diagnoses, treatment plans, rehabilitation services, and outcomes.
- Participate in peer-to-peer discussions when needed.
- Apply current clinical guidelines and standards of care to each review.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Current, unrestricted Connecticut medical license.
- Active clinical practice or recent experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- At least 5 years of post-residency clinical experience.
- Ability to attend required orientation and training sessions.
Preferred
- Experience evaluating musculoskeletal, rehabilitation, pain management, and functional impairment cases.
- Experience with electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG/NCS), if applicable.
