Conduct remote medical record reviews for workers’ compensation cases involving cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders, providing objective, evidence-based opinions on causation, impairment, disability, and return-to-work issues. The work centers on orthopedic spine surgery expertise, including review of work-related spinal injuries, degenerative conditions, trauma, and surgical versus non-surgical management. This is a 1099 independent contractor role with a flexible schedule, supported by an online case portal and administrative case preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records for orthopedic spine and workers’ compensation cases.
- Provide clear clinical summaries and objective evidence-based opinions.
- Respond to client questions regarding causation, impairment, disability, and return-to-work determinations.
- Participate in peer-to-peer communications when needed.
- Evaluate cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine conditions, including trauma and degenerative disease.
- Assess surgical and non-surgical management issues in the context of case review.
- Use a secure online portal to complete case work and documentation.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Current, unrestricted New York medical license.
- New York Workers’ Compensation Board certification.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in Orthopedic Spine Surgery.
- Ability to complete required orientation and training.
Preferred
- Fellowship training in Spine Surgery.
- Significant experience in Spine Surgery.
