The physician will perform independent, evidence-based medical record reviews focused on orthopedic spine cases, including degenerative conditions, spinal trauma, and surgical interventions. Reviews address questions such as medical necessity, appropriateness of care, causation, impairment, and treatment recommendations. This is a fully remote, 1099 contractor role with flexible scheduling and customizable case volume.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and supporting documentation for orthopedic spine cases
- Conduct evidence-based clinical assessments using current guidelines and standards of care
- Prepare clear, concise written reports and clinical summaries
- Answer client-specific questions regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and surgical interventions
- Participate in peer-to-peer discussions when needed
- Assess medical necessity, appropriateness of care, causation, impairment, and treatment recommendations
- Apply clinical expertise to non-operative and surgical spine management reviews
Required
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery
- Current, unrestricted Tennessee medical license
- Active clinical practice or recent experience in orthopedic spine surgery
- At least 5 years of post-residency clinical experience
- Ability to attend required orientation and training sessions
Preferred
- Fellowship training in Spine Surgery
- Significant experience in spine surgery
