Perform objective Independent Medical Examinations and peer reviews for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases, with a primary focus on orthopedic, neurology, and psychiatry-related evaluations. Work is case-based and may include either IMEs, peer reviews, or both, with physicians in any specialty considered if they have prior Longshore experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct objective, defensible IMEs for Longshore cases
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records
- Provide detailed, timely written reports
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements
- Manage case timelines independently
Required
- Active, unrestricted medical license
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedics, Neurology, Psychiatry, or a related specialty
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills
Preferred
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience
- Experience performing 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews
- Prior work with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors
- Multi-state Longshore case experience
- Licensure in TX, LA, or CA
