Conduct in-person, objective Independent Medical Examinations and peer reviews for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases, focused on otolaryngology. Work is case-based and advisory only, with detailed written opinions rather than treatment. The role is an independent contractor arrangement with flexible scheduling and a streamlined case workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person IMEs for Longshore cases
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records
- Provide detailed, timely written reports
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements
- Manage case timelines independently
- Work from fully prepped cases using the provided work portal
- Use transcription support to complete reports efficiently
Required
- Active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Otolaryngology
- AMA 6th Edition certified, or willing to become certified
- Experience performing 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills
- Experience working with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors
Preferred
- Multi-state Longshore case experience
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience
