An experienced otolaryngologist will perform independent medical examinations and peer reviews for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases, with a focus on in-person, objective, defensible evaluations and written advisory opinions. Work is case-based and flexible, with primary demand near Beaumont, Texas, and may include either IMEs, peer reviews, or both. This role centers on medico-legal review rather than treatment, with an emphasis on timely reporting and compliance with Longshore documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person IMEs for Longshore workers’ compensation cases
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records
- Provide detailed, timely written reports and advisory opinions
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements
- Manage cases independently and meet case timelines
- Use a user-friendly portal and transcription support to complete reviews efficiently
Required
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- US board-certified or board-eligible in Otolaryngology
- AMA 6th Edition certified, or willing to become certified
- Experience with 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews
- Experience working with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills
Preferred
- Multi-state Longshore case experience
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience
