Provide in-person independent medical examinations and peer reviews for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases, with a primary focus on orthopedic surgery. Work is case-based and advisory only, involving objective medical opinions rather than treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person IMEs for Longshore cases and provide objective, defensible medical opinions.
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records.
- Provide detailed, timely written reports.
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements.
- Manage case timelines independently.
Required
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
- US board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
- AMA 6th Edition certification, or willingness to become certified.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
Preferred
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience.
- Experience performing 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews.
- Prior work with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors.
- Multi-state Longshore case experience.
