Experienced orthopedic surgeons perform in-person independent medical examinations and peer reviews for Longshore workers’ compensation cases, with the main demand focused on orthopedic cases. Work is case-based and advisory only, with no treatment relationship established, and includes detailed written opinions tied to medical necessity and utilization review standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person, objective, defensible IMEs for Longshore cases
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records
- Provide detailed, timely written reports
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements
- Manage case timelines independently
Required
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license
- US board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
- AMA 6th Edition certification, or willingness to become certified
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills
Preferred
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience
- Experience performing 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews
- Prior work with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors
- Multi-state Longshore case experience
