Perform in-person independent medical examinations and peer reviews for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act cases, primarily in orthopedic surgery. Work is case-based and advisory-only, with detailed written opinions focused on objective assessment and documentation. The role is independent contractor work with flexible scheduling based on case availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person IMEs for Longshore cases
- Perform comprehensive peer reviews of medical records
- Provide detailed, timely written reports
- Maintain compliance with LHWCA standards and documentation requirements
- Manage case timelines independently
- Review cases objectively and defensibly for advisory purposes
Required
- Active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
- AMA 6th Edition certified, or willingness to become certified
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage case timelines
Preferred
- Prior Longshore IME and/or peer review experience
- Experience completing 30+ Longshore IMEs and/or peer reviews
- Prior work with TPAs, insurance carriers, employers, or IME vendors
- Multi-state Longshore case experience
