The work is case-based rather than direct patient care, with peer-to-peer communication as needed and no doctor-patient relationship or treatment provided. The schedule is flexible as an independent contractor, with case volume and service types chosen based on availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of rheumatology clinical cases using medical records and treatment guidelines.
- Provide written clinical summaries and determinations based on the available documentation.
- Engage in peer communications and respond to specific questions from clients.
- Use a web-based work portal to review organized case materials and complete reports.
- Coordinate with administrative support teams that organize records, prepare cases, and support timely delivery of determinations.
Required
- Board certification in Rheumatology.
- Current, unrestricted New Mexico medical license.
- At least 5 years of clinical practice experience.
- Ability to complete required orientation and training.
- Maintenance of proper credentialing, state licensure, and any required certifications.
Preferred
- Experience with medical record review or utilization review.
- Familiarity with advisory-only case assessments.
