This role focuses on remote review of ophthalmology cases, with the physician evaluating medical records, preparing clinical summaries, and answering client questions in an advisory-only capacity. The work centers on peer-to-peer communication and case assessment rather than direct patient care, with no doctor-patient relationship or treatment provided. It is a 1099 independent contractor position with schedule flexibility and case volume set by the physician’s availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed reviews of ophthalmology medical records and clinical cases.
- Provide concise clinical summaries and written determinations based on the available documentation.
- Engage in peer communications to address clinical questions from clients.
- Evaluate cases using provided treatment guidelines and chronological record summaries.
- Support high-quality healthcare assessments through advisory-only opinions.
- Use the case management work portal to review records and submit reports.
Required
- Board certification in Ophthalmology.
- Current, unrestricted D.C. medical license.
- At least 5 years of clinical practice experience.
- Completion of required orientation and training.
- Maintenance of applicable credentialing, state licenses, and certifications.

- Prior experience conducting medical record reviews.
- Familiarity with peer review or utilization review workflows.
