Provide independent medical record reviews and advisory opinions for Texas legal and medical necessity questions, including counter-affidavit work, usual and customary charges, and CPT/code analysis. Cases are advisory only, with no doctor-patient relationship or treatment, and may include deposition or trial testimony support. Work is contract-based and can be tailored to your availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and address clinical questions related to treatment necessity and charges
- Prepare counter-affidavits that respond to each question and clinical concern in the case file
- Analyze CPT coding, usual and customary rates, and Texas state fee schedules
- Provide copies of criteria used in the review with the report
- Return completed cases by the assigned due date and time
- Respond to client questions, clarification requests, and addenda as needed
- Support deposition and trial testimony when requested
Required
- Texas medical license
- Board certification
- Clinical expertise relevant to medical record review and physician advisory work
- Ability to work on a 1099 contract basis
Preferred
- Experience with counter-affidavit, testimony, or deposition work
- Experience analyzing CPT codes, fee schedules, and usual and customary charges
- Experience with independent medical exams or utilization review
