This physician reviews medical records and provides advisory opinions for Texas counter-affidavit and expert witness matters, focusing on clinical questions, medical necessity, and the appropriateness of treatment and charges. Work is case-based and contract-based, with deposition and trial expert support as needed. The role is advisory only and does not establish a doctor-patient relationship or provide treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and address clinical questions related to care and treatment.
- Evaluate medical necessity of services and support counter-affidavit responses.
- Assess usual and customary charges, CPT code application, and Texas fee schedule issues.
- Provide expert witness support for deposition and trial when requested.
- Submit reports, criteria used in review, and any addenda in a timely manner.
- Respond to client questions and clarify findings as needed.
- Accept cases and complete reviews according to individual schedule availability.
Required
- Texas medical license.
- Board certification.
- Clinical expertise relevant to the review of medical records and fee/charge analysis.
Preferred
- Counter-affidavit experience.
- Deposition and trial testimony experience.
- Experience analyzing CPT codes, usual and customary rates, and state fee schedules.
