This role focuses on reviewing disability claims and medical records for gastroenterology cases in a telework, advisory-only setting. The physician provides peer review opinions rather than treatment, with case volume and scheduling set by the reviewer’s availability. Work is supported by an administrative team and a user-friendly portal to streamline case handling and report delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct disability peer reviews for gastroenterology-related cases
- Review medical records and related documentation to support clinical determinations
- Provide advisory opinions without establishing a doctor-patient relationship
- Coordinate case timing and turnaround based on scheduled availability
- Use a streamlined work portal to complete and submit determinations and reports
- Participate in a process supported by administrative staff who organize records and communication
- Support timely, quality review of cases and reports
Required
- Board certification in Gastroenterology
- Current, unrestricted medical license
- At least 5 years of clinical practice experience
- Active clinical practice experience
- Ability to maintain required credentialing, state licenses, and certifications
