Provide independent medical record reviews and advisory opinions for legal and medical-necessity cases, with a focus on Texas counter-affidavit work, usual and customary charges, and CPT/code-based fee analysis. The role also includes being available for deposition and trial testimony when needed. Work is case-based, contract, and scheduled around physician availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and address clinical questions, medical necessity, and charge reasonableness.
- Complete counter-affidavit reports that respond to all clinical and fee-related questions.
- Analyze CPT coding, usual and customary rates, and Texas state fee schedules.
- Provide supporting criteria used in the review with the report.
- Return completed cases by the required due date and time.
- Respond to clarification requests, addenda needs, and client questions as assigned.
- Participate in deposition and trial testimony as needed.
Required
- Texas medical license.
- Board certification.
- Clinical expertise relevant to independent review and legal services work.
- Ability to review records and complete advisory reports on a contract basis.
Preferred
- Experience with counter-affidavit, testimony, or deposition work.
- Experience analyzing CPT codes, usual and customary rates, and state fee schedules.
