Review medical records, accident data, and imaging to assess biomechanics, injury causation, tissue tolerance, and whether treatment and billed services were necessitated by the event. This work centers on Texas counter-affidavit cases and may also include deposition and trial expert support, with advisory-only opinions and no patient care. Cases are assigned on a contract basis and can be completed around your schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct case reviews of medical records, accident metrics, and imaging for injury causation and relatedness.
- Complete Texas counter-affidavits addressing clinical questions, injury relationships, and fee or charge discrepancies.
- Evaluate CPT coding, usual and customary rates, and state fee schedules as they relate to the case.
- Provide copies of any medical necessity criteria or biomechanical guidelines used in the report.
- Return completed reviews by the required deadline and respond to follow-up questions or clarifications.
- Participate in deposition, trial testimony, and expert witness requests when needed.
Required
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
- Active board certification.
- Demonstrable expertise, training, or fellowship in biomechanics, injury causation, or collision reconstruction analysis.
- Ability to serve as a deposition and trial expert.
Preferred
- Prior experience with the Texas counter-affidavit process.
- Prior deposition and trial testimony experience.
- Experience analyzing CPT codes, usual and customary rates, or state fee schedules.
