This clinician leads psychiatric care for individuals in behavioral health crisis, providing initial assessments, crisis intervention, risk and capacity evaluations, family meetings, and discharge planning. The role combines direct patient care with administrative leadership, including supervision of mid-level clinicians and oversight of clinical practice and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct medical and clinical care for patients in a crisis behavioral health setting.
- Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations, focused crisis assessments, risk assessments, and capacity assessments.
- Provide crisis interventions, family interventions, patient education, and discharge planning.
- Oversee clinical practice standards, safety protocols, and corrective actions for the facility.
- Supervise and mentor a team of mid-level providers and provide collaborating-physician oversight.
- Coordinate with outside psychiatric and inpatient providers to support appropriate treatment planning.
- Serve as a clinical leader, administrator on call, and site representative for stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in leadership, committee work, hiring, onboarding, and conflict resolution for clinical staff.
Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Completion of an approved psychiatric residency program.
- At least 3 years of post-residency psychiatric care experience.
- Active Virginia Board of Medicine licensure.
- Board certification.
- Unrestricted DEA permit.
- Experience or training in addiction medicine, or addiction-credentialed physician status.
- Ability to meet required credentialing and background check requirements.
- Current vaccination status consistent with company policy or approved exemption.
Preferred
- Prior administrative experience.
- Knowledge of DBHDS and DMAS regulations.
