This fully remote medical director role provides physician oversight for mobile and telemedicine pain management care for geriatric and medically complex patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private homes. The clinician focuses on supervision, case review, and quality support for nurse practitioners and physician assistants while helping guide evidence-based pain treatment, including medication management and non-opioid options. The role also supports documentation review, prescribing compliance, and ongoing quality improvement for an interdisciplinary pain and palliative care program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide physician oversight and clinical supervision for nurse practitioners and physician assistants delivering pain management services.
- Supervise telemedicine providers to support quality of care, appropriate prescribing, and regulatory compliance.
- Review patient documentation and provide feedback to support clinical quality and compliance.
- Guide providers on evidence-based pain management protocols, including medication management, non-opioid therapies, and specialty referrals.
- Support individualized treatment planning for geriatric and medically complex patients across SNF, ALF, and home care settings.
- Be available for provider consultation, case review, and clinical guidance as needed.
- Participate in monthly provider meetings and collaborate on quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure telehealth workflows and prescribing practices align with Medicare, DEA, and Kansas state regulations.
Required
- Active MD or DO license in Kansas.
- Board certified or board eligible in Pain Management, Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, or a related specialty.
- Active DEA registration in good standing.
- Medicare-enrolled provider status.
- Residence in Kansas.
Preferred
- Experience supervising nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants.
- Experience supervising telemedicine providers.
- Experience working with geriatric, chronic pain, palliative, or post-acute care populations.
- Strong understanding of safe opioid prescribing and multidisciplinary pain management approaches.
