This role provides remote physician oversight for a mobile and telemedicine pain management program focused on geriatric and medically complex patients with chronic pain and palliative care needs. The clinician reviews documentation, guides treatment planning, and supports safe prescribing and specialty referrals across skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private homes. It also includes collaboration with NPs and PAs, participation in provider meetings, and support for quality improvement and telehealth workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide physician oversight and clinical supervision for NP and PA providers delivering mobile and telemedicine pain management care.
- Review patient documentation and provide feedback to support clinical quality and regulatory compliance.
- Guide evidence-based pain management protocols, including medication management, non-opioid therapies, and specialty referrals.
- Support individualized treatment planning for geriatric and medically complex patients in SNF, ALF, and home care settings.
- Be available for provider consultation, case review, and clinical guidance as needed.
- Participate in monthly provider meetings and collaborate on quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure telehealth workflows and prescribing practices align with Medicare, DEA, and California state regulations.
Required
- Active MD or DO license in California.
- Board certified or board eligible in Pain Management, Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, or a related specialty.
- Active DEA registration in good standing.
- Medicare-enrolled provider status.
- Residence in California.
Preferred
- Experience supervising NPs, PAs, and/or telemedicine providers.
- Experience working with geriatric, chronic pain, palliative care, or post-acute care populations.
- Strong understanding of safe opioid prescribing and multidisciplinary pain management approaches.
