This fully remote RN role reviews escalated admission clearance cases for patients with eating disorder and substance use disorder presentations. The clinician interprets labs, EKGs, and vital signs to determine whether a client can be cleared for admission or should be referred to a higher level of care. The role also supports coordination with admissions staff and medical leadership to keep complex cases moving efficiently through the clearance process.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and triage escalated clinical clearance requests from the admissions team
- Review eating disorder medical stability data, including labs, vitals, and orthostatic findings
- Interpret EKG findings relevant to nutritional status and electrolyte abnormalities
- Apply nursing judgment to determine admission appropriateness for complex eating disorder and substance use cases
- Communicate clearance decisions directly to admissions staff and prepare case summaries for physician escalation when needed
- Track pending labs and coordinate with clients and outside providers to reduce admission delays
- Maintain and update the clinical clearance queue in Salesforce
- Contribute to workflow improvements, decision trees, templates, and staff training
Required
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in good standing
- At least 2-3 years of nursing experience
- Working knowledge of eating disorder medical stability criteria
- Ability to interpret lab panels, vital signs, and EKG findings in a clinical clearance context
- Working knowledge of substance use disorder presentations, including withdrawal risk and level-of-care criteria
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM/admissions platforms, or ability to learn quickly
- Work authorization in the United States
Preferred
- Behavioral health, medical-surgical, or eating disorder/substance use disorder-adjacent nursing experience
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria
- Experience in virtual or telehealth behavioral health settings
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills
