Teach an online pharmacology course for nursing students, with a focus on drug therapy, medication classifications, safe administration, dosage, side effects, and patient teaching. The role centers on clinical teaching and student evaluation rather than direct patient care, with responsibility for supporting students as they apply pharmacology concepts to nursing practice. Faculty also contribute to course and program development, assessment, and retention efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online teaching for pharmacology content aligned with course objectives and nursing practice.
- Provide documented feedback on student performance, assignments, quizzes, tests, and clinical paperwork.
- Support student remediation as needed and answer course-related questions.
- Coordinate with the course coordinator, dean, and other faculty on student and agency issues.
- Participate in program development, implementation, evaluation, and assessment activities.
- Use professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with students and colleagues.
- Comply with applicable regulatory rules, standards, and college policies.
Required
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Unencumbered Illinois RN licensure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant subject matter expertise in pharmacology or the course content area.
Preferred
- Multi-state compact RN licensure.
- Experience teaching or supporting nursing students in an academic setting.
- Prior online instruction or distance education experience.
